Personality
Laid back - Sarcastic - Aloof - Slightly Pessimistic
- Heart in the right places
Isaac: "How
would I describe my personality? I don't know, maybe chill or something. That
and I just really don't care. Not super social and stuff but I've got a few guys
I hang with from time to time. A bit blunt at times but hey, the truth is the
truth no matter how harsh it seems. No reason the beat around the bush and drag
things out right?"
During his childhood years, Isaac was actually a very quiet kid who
kept mostly to himself. He did not enjoy company, nor did he crave attention
like most children his age. To his parents this was a rather odd thing, but his
mother insisted he’d come out of his shell eventually so they did their best to
give him space.
Most days he would come home and head straight to his room,
always shutting the door and ignoring his family. The only person he allowed to
enter was Jay, and sometimes his parents could persuade him to come out by
tempting him with treats like cookies and candies.
For the first 3 years of
his life his parents actually considered looking into the possibility of him
having some kind of throat damage simply because he talked so very little. It
wasn’t until they began listening in through the door as Isaac would read
stories to tiny Jay that they realized there was nothing wrong with Isaac at
all; he was simply a plume of few words.
He had an imaginary friend named
Casper that he would converse with on occasion, but other than that he had no
preschool friends. Not because he was bullied or anything, mainly because he
just wouldn’t interact with the others enough to get to know anyone.
His
baby brother was the only person Isaac showed interest in, which remains fairly
true to this day.
When his mother died, Isaac began to talk.
As
a teenager, Isaac was a whole lot different. After he had started talking more
and more people gradually found themselves drawn to him for various reasons. He
became fairly popular, though he himself didn’t know why nor cares, and found
himself being included in more things that he could have ever imagined.
He
had grown to be rather open about his personal opinion, so open in fact that you
could even go as far as to say he was down-right blunt and fairly harsh on his
critics of others. In all honesty, the only person Isaac cared for was himself
and his brother, and maybe a few friends he was closest with.
Isaac always
seemed rather relaxed and calm, though he was quick to get snappy and didn’t put
up with a bad attitude for long. He hated drama in school and hated the idiots
who started all the drama even more. School wasn’t something he enjoyed, he
made great scores on his test but his home work and class participation grades
killed his GPA. Him and his father would sometimes fight about his grades and
his future, but Isaac never listened to anything his father told him anyways.
During this time, Jay had started to show signs of being OCD, as well as
expressing a rather strong show of protection over his younger brother Jay.
Anyone who he saw as a threat to his brother was automatically put at the top of
his black list.
Now as a young adult at the age of 24, Isaac hasn’t
changed all that much from his teenage years. He is still rather laid back and
uncaring, but at lease he doesn’t just blurt out rude comments anymore. He
thinks a bit more before he speaks and tries his best to consider who others
might feel about what he has to say (not that he really cares, Jay just told him
he needs to so he’s trying).
Isaac doesn’t smile much and it is hard to tell
when he is being sarcastic or not because his tone is typically the same either
way; bored and uninterested. There is no telling what is on his mind to be
perfectly honest, but I doubt even if you could tell that you’d really want to
know.
He might seem a little rough around the edges but he has his heart in
the right place, doing good deeds for strangers and helping out where help is
needed. Though he will probably brush it off like its nothing, Isaac truly does
help with the sole intention of wanting to be helpful.
Though he can be
rather distant from the rest of the world, around Jay Isaac is much more calm
and less sarcastic. Jay is the only person Isaac feels comfortable with opening
up fully to, though keeps the majority of his personal problems out of the
conversation so that Jay won’t worry about him.
I find Isaac to be the
‘unlikely hero’ type of person, you’d think he’s be a villain when you first
spoke with him but the more you get to understand him the more you’ll see he’s
one of the good guys after all. No one is perfect, buy at least he is honest and
truly cares about the people he loves.
Relationships
Jay -
Brother
Isaac:
"My brother Jay? Yea, I guess you could say we're pretty close. Been together
since we were both pretty small and went through the same stuff. He means a lot
to me, don't tell him I said that tho cause it's weird to say out loud. I don't
really approve of this whole working at a bar thing though, but I can't make him
quit or anything. As long as he is happy, I guess I'll just have to try and live
with it. Still, if any idiot tries to start a drunken fight with him, things are
going to get real ugly real fast. No one messes with my little brother, there is
no exception to that."
To Isaac,
right now Jay is the only person that really matters to him. Ever since he was
small, Isaac has always had some what of a brother complex that he keeps hidden
from plain sight. He shares quite a few traits with his brother, though he is
not as openly friendly and selfless like Jay.
When their mother passed
away, Isaac was a bit rattled up. On the outside he acted calm and collected,
but it was all for the sake of his brother. Isaac feels it is his job to be the
stronger one of them, concealing his own feelings so that Jay won't ever see him
break down. He believes his mother would have wanted him to look after Jay in
her absence, so he keeps a rather close eye on everything Jay does.
Isaac
cares for Jay more than anyone else, even himself. Jay is the only person Isaac
will completely relax around and be fully open with, but he tries to keep his
personal problems out of conversations so that Jay wont have to worry about him.
Anyone that dares mess with Jay has to take down Isaac as well, he can
become extremely protective over his brother and threatening towards whoever is
causing Jay trouble. It can be hard to calm him down at times like this,
especially if he gets edged on. Normally Jay is the only one who can pull him
out of his mad spells.
He disapproves of Jay working at the bar and wishes
he'd find some place safer, and often shows up at his brothers work place to
keep an eye on him. Though he'll never admit that, he normally just claims he
has nothing better to do with his
time.
Mother
Issac: "My mom? ...Yea, she was someone pretty
special to me. I mean It wasn't like we were overly talkative to each other, as
a kid I really didn't speak much, but... I guess she just kinda understood me in
a way. It's hard to explain. Anyways she passed away awhile ago so there is
nothing I can do about it now. I loved her, and that's all I have to say about
it. Next question."
Isaac was
very close to his mother while she was still alive, even though he was a bit
distant towards everyone he liked her the best. She understood him better than
his father did and never pushed him into opening up to her. Isaac loved his
mother very much and enjoyed the few times they spent completely one on one
together, memories he often thinks about but can only grasp bits and pieces
from.
When she became ill and died, Isaac didn't take it very well. For the
first week he spoke to no one and refused to make eye contact, and at the
funeral his face looked like hard stone. It wasn't till the day after, when he
returned to the tomb stone alone , that he actually sat down and cried for her
loss. He hopes Jay never finds out about this, and had kept this as one of his
personal secrets for a long time.
He feels it would be his mothers wish for
him to look after Jay, and made a promise at her grave that he would look after
his brother and even his father for as long as they were alive and together.
Father
Isaac: "Dad? Man, don't even get me started.
Listen, I know I'm his kid and I kind of have to love him, but that doesn't mean
I have to like him. In my opinion, ever since mom died he's been making one
wrong move after another. I mean come on, opening a bar and letting your son
work there? What kinda parent does stuff like that anyways? I know him and Jay
seem pretty close so I try not to talk bad about him in front of my brother, but
I'll pled guilty to slipping up at times. The two of us are just to different to
get along, nothing I can change about that."
When it
comes to his father, Isaac has a lot of mixed feelings. On one hand it's his
father and he feels as if he kinda has to love him, but on the other hand they
just really don't get along all that well.
Isaac was always a mama's boy,
so he and his father never had the strongest relationship. They didn't bond like
a father and son normally do, though his dad did try to express his interest in
his son Isaac more often than not shut him out of his privet little bubble.
After being repeatedly blocked, his father decided it would be best just to let
him be.
When his mother died and his father made them move, they had their
first real fight. Isaac didn't want to leave his home, the place where he shared
so many memories of the past and of his mother. He didn't listen to any reasons
his father gave and even went as far as to threaten to run away if they had to
leave. He made sure he never raised his voice when Jay was in the room though,
figuring his brother was already going through enough as it was.
When his
dad won and they moved, Isaac didn't talk to him for aver a month. Even now he
still carries bitterness over the subject matter, and it's best not to mention
the subject to him.
For the most part Isaac tolerates his father for Jay's
sake, though he sometimes slips up with rude comments about his dad that prove
they are far from good grounds with each other.
He thinks his father favors
Jay anyway, and thought he claims he doesn't really care there is still a bit of
undetected jealousy there for sure. Currently, Isaac is mad at his dad for
letting Jay work at the bar. He thinks his brother is to young, even though
that's obviously not true, and that working at a bar is far to dangerous for
someone like Jay.
Hobbies
Reading
Isaac: "Yes, I guess you could say I'm a
pretty active reader. It's a good pass time and a way to calm down at the end of
a long day. My brother likes to read to, we swap books a lot. Sometimes I just
take his but I doubt he cares as long as I give them back."
Ever since he was young, one of Isaac's most notorious hobbies is the
fact that he reads constantly. He doesn't have much of a preference towards the
genera of the book, so long as its not anything stupid sounding like 'The
Monster that Ate Pineapples" or something like that. He shares a lot of his
books with his brother, and can read fairly quickly when he has the time to sit
down and focus on his book.
Clock making and repairing
Isaac: "My clocks? Yea, they are pretty much
one of the few passions I've got. Clock making is just really fun actually,
hunting for parts and making things for scratch. I'm really good at it, and I'm
not saying that to sound cocky, I just know what I'm good at. The clocks I make
look pretty nice, I give them away as gifts for things like weddings and
birthdays and everyone loves them (at least to my face they say they love them).
My room is covered in all kinds of clocks and parts, and even if it looks messy
I know exactly where everything is. Jay keeps complaining that I need to clean
up, but I'm the older one so I don't have to listen to what he
says."
Isaac has a passion for clocks, especially tearing them apart and
putting them back together again. As a kid his family had to buy a new alarm
clock almost every week, simply because he would pull them apart and
unsuccessfully put them back together again. Now that he's older he is an expert
at all kinds of clocks and gears, and works at one of the Rolex shoppes in the
city over from where his brother and father work.
On the weekends he often
goes to thrift shops and buys old clocks or parts and hoards them in his room.
There are tons of boxes stacked all over the place filled with gears and spare
parts as well as scraps of polished brass and other types of metals. When he's
not at work he makes beautiful clocks out of the parts he picks up, and he sells
them to different shops for a fairly nice price. Isaac doesn't really care much
about the money, it's just for fun.
Doodling
Isaac: “Doodling and sketching is really more
of a pass time activity for me when I’m either off the clock or just have
nothing better to do. I’m not as good as Jay, but I can do better than stick
figures at lease. Most of what I doodle is either clocks, gears, random things I
see, and kind of abstract characters. I know this will sound odd, but I always
draw people with their tongue out for some reason.”
Doodling is just something he likes to do when he's chilling and
relaxing, it tends to take his mind off things. He isn't as good as his brother
is, but the things he scribbles do look fairly nice. Most of the time he just
draws things laying around his room like gears or pencils on his desk table.

Three Strange and Slightly Amusing
Habits
1)
Isaac is one of the worst morning people you could ever imagine. It takes three
alarm clocks to get him up, and after that he groggily makes his way to the
bathroom half asleep. Now, this might sound normal to you, but here is the
thing; for the first 5 minutes after waking up he will stand in front on the
bathroom mirror and do nothing but stare at his tongue. Yes, I'm being quite
serious. No one is sure where this habit came from or how it started, but it is
rather strange. I wouldn't suggest asking him either, if you break his train of
thought he will simply glare at you and be grumpy for the rest of the day. After
awhile of living with him though you become use to it.
2) Isaac is an
awful sleep walker, and will get up at random times in the night and stroll
around in deep sleep. Some times his eyes are open, some times they're not. Not
only does he sleep walk, but he sleep walks right into peoples beds and clings
to them. Most of the time it's Jay's or his dads, but there have been cases
where he has slipped out of his own home and wondered into the neighbors house
next door.
His sleep walking doesn't occur very regularly, maybe once every
month or so. Still, he hates it because its super awkward just to wake up in
someone's bed and be like 'oops'. Especially when that person is your father and
you've got your arms locked around his neck. Ugh.
3) Every time Isaac
goes to a hotel, he heads straight to the bathrooms and collects all the free
shampoos and other trinket provided. This would seem normal were in not for the
fact that he never uses any of the products he takes, and instead have a giant
container tucked under his bed filled with tiny bottles of conditioner and
shower caps. No matter what anyone says though, he refuses to throw them out.
Every time someone mentions it to him he says that he has them for a reason,
which is a complete lie because he never uses any of it. This strange habit
might have something to do with his OCD.
The
Interview
Q:
"It says here you have a disorder known as OCD, care to explain to us a bit on
how this affects you?"
Isaac:
"Oh, I guess it's kinda hard to explain simply. To start with I was diagnosed
when I was 16, but I didn't really believe the doctor so I just walked out and
didn't think about it for awhile. It wasn't till I was around 20 that Jay said
he had noticed that I had a few strange behaviors that I head, and even I kind
of started to think it wasn't that normal. So I went back and they told me the
same thing they did when I was 16. Shocker right?
So anyway I started going
to see a psychotherapist and got on some medications so I'm pretty alright now,
though not everything has changed. I still feel the need to re-count all my
clock parts before I use them, as well as reorganize my books every few days.
Jay also points out a couple other random things I do that I hardly recognize,
but for the most part I think I've got things fairly under control."
Q: "According to your above profile, I see you identify yourself as
heteroflexibal. Could you explain a bit on what you mean by that?"
Isaac: "So
the main gender I'm currently interested in is girls, but I'm not against the
idea of being with another guy. To be honest I'm not a really romantic type
person so the amount of people I've been with is small, but if I ever happen to
fall for a guy I wont mind it. I don't care about thinks like gender or looks,
it's the personality and depth of the person that makes me attracted to them."
Q: " Following the above comments, what exactly is your
type? Looks and/or personality."
Isaac: "Hard to say really. When it comes to
looks, I don't really care. I'm not shallow enough to judge on something like
that, though I wouldn't complain if the person I liked had an attractive face.
Just a bonus really. For personality, I'd say I like the type of people who
speak their mind and don't think to hard over simple questions just to save face
if you know what I mean. People who are relaxed, interesting, and realistic are
the kind of people I think I'd get along with most. That or someone with a cute
personality, kinda like Jay's but maybe a bit more confidant in
themselves."
Q: " If you could change one thing about
yourself, what would it be?"
Isaac:
"Nothing. No reason to, it wouldn't make sense. If I absolutly had to pick
anything I'd say the color of my feathers. I mean I like the color they are now,
but it would be cool to see what other colors might look like on me."
Q: " What is the worst nightmare you have ever
experienced?"
Isaac:
“Well… Ok I don’t really like talking about this kind of deep stuff but so long
as this doesn’t spread around I guess it would be ok to tell one person… One
time, a couple years ago, I had a dream where I was alone in a very dull colored
room covered in all kinds of clocks. They didn’t make any noise, and they all
told a different time. On every clock was a name, which doesn’t sound all that
strange but it was the names of people I knew so it worried me a bit.
So
here I am walking around in this dream and I pick up one of the smaller clocks
and take a closer look at it; it’s the name of some guy I use to hang with back
in high school. I’m holding this clock and I notice that it’s about to strike 3,
and the moment it does, BAM! The thing explodes and parts start flying
everywhere. I’m freaked out now, so I suddenly make a mad dash around the place
looking for my families clocks. Clocks start exploding everywhere and melting
into the walls, I manage to grab my dad’s clock and Jay’s clock but I’m still
looking for moms. Just as I’m franticly searching I see a tall grandfather clock
tucked away in the corner with my mom’s name on it, and its about to strike 3 so
I try climbing to the top so I can change the time before it
explodes.
Without warning, or striking 3 for that matter, the whole
grandfather clock crumbles to the ground in a giant pile of gears and parts, the
type I use when making my own clocks. I just felt this… painful, empty feeling
in my chest and I pick up the parts one by one and count them out like I always
do. By now, only two clocks are left that hadn’t exploded or melted were my
dad’s and Jay’s.
Dad’s clock was pretty messed up looking and didn’t look
like I could fix it, so I focused on Jay’s clock instead. I used the parts from
the grandfather clock and tried to repair it, it was super stressful and I was
paranoid the whole time that it would suddenly explode like the grandfather
clock. Every now and then I’d reach over and turn back the hands on dad’s clock
just so It wouldn’t blow up, but that was all I could do.
Suddenly the hands
on both clocks started speeding up and going extremely fast and I couldn’t hold
them both at the same time and dad’s suddenly exploded so I was even more scared
that I was going to lose Jay’s clock. I put my hand on the hand on the clock to
stop it but the clock started shaking and I remember screaming for it so stop
and then BAM! It exploded and I sat up straight in my bed gasping for air.
It might not sound that scary to you but to me it really got to me for
awhile, now I just do my best to forget about it.”
Short
Stories
The First Meeting
Isaac's
Age: 2 1/2
Isaac peered over the cradle, staring down wide eyed at
the bundle of blue fur that lay sleeping there. It was strange seeing him for
the first time after knowing he'd been in his mothers stomach for so long, and
the new baby wasn't like he had imagined in his head.
Leaning over farther,
the small plume got a closer look at the markings on his new sibling. They
looked a lot like his own, besides the patterns around his eyes that was. When
the baby stirred, Isaac inched closer to his face and waited anxiously for the
tiny bundle to show its eyes. As they slowly peeked open, Isaac observed the
pair of fresh yellow orbs that gazed up at him with an equal amount of
curiosity. Everything about the baby seemed so small and frail, but Isaac dared
to move close and press his nose gently into the soft fur of his left
cheek.
The tiny plume made a rather odd noise, wiggling around a bit and
pawing at his elder brothers face. To Isaac he looked rather happy, so he
continued to very softly nuzzle his new baby brother.
As he watched the
infant, a new feeling slowly crept into his chest. It was a mix of overwhelming
emotions, things he couldn't name or understand at his age. Yet he knew one
thing, and that was that this tiny bundle would need a protector. And the more
Isaac thought about it, the more he knew that that protector had to be him.
